SUMMARY:April 15 Natural Gas Community – Pressure-Level Gas Forecasting: From Business Need to Scalable Solution
DESCRIPTION:Join the Natural Gas Community on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM CT for a presentation with Q&A/open discussion on, “Pressure-Level Gas Forecasting: From Business Need to Scalable Solution” led by the following speakers from Ameren:\n\nPrasenjit Shil, Manager, Ameren Innovation – Ameren\nRyan Patrick, Career Engineer, Gas Operations – Ameren Missouri\nJeffrey Huang, Innovation Center Intern, Data, Analytics, and AI team – Ameren\n\nSession Description:\nAccurate gas demand forecasting at the system level is no longer sufficient to support modern utility operations. Gas control teams increasingly require granular, pressure-system-level forecasts to optimize operational decisions, capacity management and respond to variability driven by weather, customer behavior, and system constraints.\nThis presentation outlines the business case, drivers, and value proposition for advancing from traditional system-level forecasts to pressure-level forecasting. We highlight key operational challenges—including limited visibility into localized demand, inefficiencies in balancing supply and demand, and growing complexity from distributed loads.\nWe then walk through the end-to-end solution development, including data integration, feature engineering, and model design for pressure-system level forecasting. The session also covers how the solution is operationalized within a modern data platform.\nFinally, we share lessons learned, implementation considerations, and the measurable impact on forecast accuracy, operational efficiency, and decision-making—providing a roadmap for utilities looking to modernize their gas forecasting capabilities.\n \n*UAI Utility Members can register and access all nine of our Analytics Communities via our Community Page ( https://utilityanalytics.com/communities/ ). Not a part of the Natural Gas Community and want to join this session? Please use our direct link here to request access. You will find the Teams meeting credentials to the upcoming meeting at the top of the feed on this page.
