SUMMARY:April 15 Grid Analytics Community – Weather Forecasting for Utilities: A Rapidly Changing Environment
DESCRIPTION:Join the Grid Analytics Community on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 1:00 PM CT for a presentation with Q&A/open discussion on, “Weather Forecasting for Utilities: A Rapidly Changing Environment” led by David J Corliss, PhD, Principal Data Scientist at Grafham Analytics.\nSession Description:\nWeather causes many impacts on utility systems, making forecast data very important for utility analytics. The past year has seen many changes including funding and staff reductions affecting the frequency, geographic coverage, and reliability of weather data. At the same time, improvements in data sources, analytics methods, and AI have potential to improve forecasting weather and its impacts.\nThis session covers new methods for predictive modeling of weather impacts, including LSTM models and interrupted time series (ITS) for modeling sudden changes in weather. Use of the “Euro Model” ECMWF data will be described, along with the use of AI to accelerate coding interfaces with new data sources. These updates will help attendees leverage the latest developments in data and methodology to improve forecasting the impact of weather on utility systems. \n \n*UAI Utility Members can register and access all nine of our Analytics Communities via our Community Page ( https://utilityanalytics.com/communities/ ). Not a part of the Grid Analytics Community and want to join this session? Please use our direct link here to request access. You will find the Teams meeting credentials to the upcoming meeting at the top of the feed on this page. If you have any questions or run into any issues, please contact us at info@utilityanalytics.com ( mailto:info@utilityanalytics.com ).\n
