2026 Utility Analytics Institute Analytics Maturity Assessment Report

UAI Releases 2026 Analytics Maturity Assessment

The Utility Analytics Institute (UAI) has published its 2026 Analytics Maturity Assessment (AMA), presenting the results and findings from a comprehensive enterprise-wide self-assessment completed by participating member utilities.

Conducted every two years, the AMA examines how utilities plan for, develop, and apply data and analytics capabilities in alignment with organizational goals. The 2026 report includes assessment scores, survey responses, and analyses of relationships between analytics resources, organizational practices, and analytics capabilities.

The 2026 AMA continues UAI’s commitment to advancing data and analytics across the utility industry and supporting the professionals who work in these fields through research, collaboration, and shared knowledge.

The Utility Analytics Institute (UAI) is a utility-led membership organization whose research and programs are guided by priorities established with utility leaders through its Executive Advisory Council (EAC) and Strategic Advisory Board (SAB). The Analytics Maturity Assessment reflects that collaborative approach, with participating utilities assembling teams of representatives from across their organizations to complete the survey.

69% of UAI’s utility members participated in the 2026 Analytics Maturity Assessment, contributing data from utilities of different sizes, organizational structures, and services.

Analytics maturity goes beyond adopting advanced technology. It encompasses leadership priorities, strategic alignment with business goals, development of analytics professionals, managing data as an organizational asset, establishing accountability and oversight for data and analytics, and applying analytics capabilities to inform and influence decisions.

The 2026 AMA examines these areas, including how participating utilities are approaching artificial intelligence (AI) and AI risk management. The report identifies associations among reported practices and capabilities, providing a deeper examination of analytics maturity than survey results alone.

The report brings together assessment scores, charts, survey questions and response options, definitions, and findings from the survey analysis. These results provide a view of analytics maturity among participating utilities, including differences in organizational practices and capabilities.

Participating utilities receive advance access to the report, their individual assessment scores and survey responses, and aggregated response data to conduct their own research and analysis.

The 2026 Analytics Maturity Assessment report is available exclusively to UAI members. Members can log in to read or download the report and access the survey and anonymized utility scores.

UAI brings together utility professionals and solution providers to share experiences, exchange ideas, explore challenges, and learn from one another. Membership provides opportunities to collaborate across the utility analytics community, along with access to research, resources, and professional development.
