Session Description:
MISO, the electric grid operator for the central U.S., has undergone significant digital transformation using cloud infrastructure for advanced data insights and intelligence. Historically, on-premises datasets have been migrated to MISO’s Microsoft Azure tenant through large data migration efforts. Because MISO has a complicated data ecosystem, some smaller datasets might be left on-premises, therefore preventing MISO’s business users from modernizing how they interact with data and blocking the complete value-add of using cloud tooling. To ensure the whole business is brought along, MISO’s data team has developed a self-service application that allows business users to request, track, and add data assets to be ingested into the data lake. The Data Ingestion Request and Status Application (DIRSA) automates and tracks work associated with data ingestions to make ingestion efforts more transparent to business users. DIRSA also provides a platform for users to share what they need with the data team and start engaging with Microsoft Azure.
