Join the Asset Health Analytics Community on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM CT for a presentation with Q&A/open discussion on, “Asset Failure Forecasting Model: A Comprehensive Reliability Framework for High-Pressure Gas Infrastructure” led by the following speakers from Enbridge:
- Duminda Randeniya Ph.D., P.Eng., Supervisor, Risk Assessments – Facilities and Storage – Enbridge
- Sicheng Li, Engineering Analyst – Enbridge
- Jennifer Wu, Engineering Analyst – Enbridge
Session Description:
Proactive integrity management is central to pipeline and facility safety, reliability, and regulatory alignment. This session introduces a system-wide failure forecasting framework developed for gas-carrying assets within the Facility Integrity Management Program (FIMP) scope, representing a meaningful advancement in reliability modeling for station-based infrastructure. The model integrates historical failure records, asset characteristics, and statistically grounded techniques to estimate likelihood of failure that feeds into a station level quantitative risk assessment. By identifying age-dependent reliability patterns and failure inflection points, the framework provides practical guidance for inspection, maintenance, and replacement strategies.
The presentation will outline the end-to-end methodology, beginning with data preparation and standardization across enterprise systems, followed by failure classification and model selection based on asset behavior. The methodology would elaborate different modeling approaches that are applicable for both non-repairable assets (such as regulators) and repairable assets (e.g., valves, pressure vessels, and turbines). Attendees will gain insight into validation approaches, interpretation of model outputs, and lessons learned from aligning statistical results with operational expectations and industry norms. The session will conclude with perspectives on scaling the framework and enhancing predictive accuracy through additional data refinement and operational variables.
