May 28 Asset Health Analytics Community – Preventative Maintenance using AI: Equipment Lifespan Detection Using Sound

Join the Asset Health Analytics Community on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 11:00 AM CT for a presentation with Q&A/open discussion on Preventative Maintenance using AI: Equipment Lifespan Detection Using Sound led by David J Corliss, PhD, Principal Data Scientist at Grafham Analytics.

Session Description:

AI is widely used today to analyze images and detect anomalies, from applications ranging from medical images to microscopic cracks in aircraft and much more. When combined with sonograms – 2 dimensional images of sound data – these new developments in AI can be applied to sound recordings of equipment to detect conditions associated with aging. This presentation gives an overview of the emerging science of AI equipment age analysis using sound. Content includes a description of the process including collecting data, converting sound data to sonogram images, setting up a neural net architecture, and using the CNN algorithm to create an AI audio classifier.
