September 8 Customer Analytics Community – Demand Response: CoolCents Program

Session Description:
CoolCents is AES Indiana’s largest residential demand response program and a MISO-registered Load Modifying Resource (LMR), with roughly 47,000 voluntarily enrolled customers whose smart thermostats and A/C duty-cycling switches (1-way and 2-way) are dispatched during peak summer conditions. This session walks through how the AES Digital team used analytics and data science to audit the program at the device and meter level, build a counterfactual baseline of “what customers would have used” absent an event, and quantify true load shed across multiple event windows.
The session will go over how the project integrated registration, device and AMI data and translated raw data into actional insights as well as the cost-savings and business-side implications.
