Session Description:
In this session, we will present a machine learning–based solution developed to support URD cable replacement prioritization at BGE, Exelon. Leveraging experience from two other operating companies, PECO and PHI, our team collaborated closely with business-side BGE subject matter experts and the design team throughout the project. The model incorporates asset attributes from GIS, environmental data, and historical outage records to predict the likelihood of URD cable faults within the next year. The predictive results are integrated into an interactive Power BI dashboard designed to support planning and capital investment decision-making. We will discuss the project objectives, business benefits, the our approach to quantifying the value generated by the tool, as well as key lessons learned during development.
