New capability allows customers to enable automation of complex tasks and to deliver customized, up-to-date answers for their applications based on their proprietary data
Amazon Web Services expanded its fully managed foundation model (FM) service called Amazon Bedrock. The expansion includes the addition of Cohere as an FM provider and the latest FMs from Anthropic and Stability AI. It also includes a new feature for creating fully managed agents with ease, making it accessible for builders without specialized expertise.
Amazon Bedrock enables customers to develop and scale generative AI applications by accessing a simple application programming interface (API) in a secure environment without the hassle of managing infrastructure. This expansion broadens the offerings of Amazon Bedrock, giving customers a comprehensive toolkit for generative AI across various use cases.
Additionally, the service offers the flexibility to choose the right FM for specific tasks, empowering users to deliver personalized responses based on their data.
“Generative AI has the potential to transform every application, business, and industry. Advancements across data processing, compute, and machine learning are expediting the shift from experimentation to deployment for AWS customers of all sizes,” said Swami Sivasubramanian, Vice President of Database, Analytics, and Machine Learning at AWS. “Through services like Amazon Bedrock and collaborations with industry leaders, we are democratizing access to generative AI, so wherever customers are on their machine learning journey, they can use AWS to reimagine experiences and bring new products to life.”
Generative AI has gained significant potential across industries, driven by the massive proliferation of data, scalable computing, and advancements in machine learning (ML) technologies. Amazon Bedrock simplifies the process of selecting, customizing, integrating, and deploying models, making it accessible for a wide range of users.
Cohere, as a new FM provider, adds to the selection of FMs available on Amazon Bedrock. Cohere’s models cater to practical business applications such as copywriting, summarization, dialogue, extraction, and question answering.
“This collaboration will provide our joint customers with the greatest possible flexibility in ways to access our cutting-edge technology,” Saurabh Baji, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Cohere, said. “Bringing Amazon Bedrock and Cohere together offers customers intelligent systems so that developers and enterprises alike can innovate faster and more easily with AI.”
Anthropic’s Claude 2 and Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion XL 1.0 are also now accessible on Amazon Bedrock. These models enable developers to work with extensive amounts of text and images, offering enhanced capabilities for generative AI applications.
Developers often face challenges in creating AI applications that interact with external systems and access up-to-date knowledge sources. Amazon Bedrock introduces a new capability called “agents” to address this. Agents simplify the process of creating generative AI applications for complex tasks by automating the orchestration plan, securely connecting to company data, and handling API calls.
